Class of 2017 prospect Ricky Norris had a very productive summer in 2015.  From visiting numerous college camps, to working as a counselor at Monroe Community College summer youth camp, to finding a way to get to the gym and prepare his mind, body, and soul for his upcoming season at Trinity Pawling.

Could Ricky Norris be the next member of the Gause family to join the Rutgers program?

Rutgers has recruited the Gause family since 2009 when starting linebacker Quentin Gause was a high school sophomore at Bishop Kearney (Rochester, N.Y.). They recently landed Quentin's younger brother, JoJo, as a preferred walk-on and have now moved on to the next family member in line.

Ricky Norris is the step-son of Kala Gause, uncle and trainer of Quentin and JoJo Gause — and he appears to be well on his way to attaining FBS attention.

Norris is a 6-3, 250-pounder, who played offensive guard as a sophomore, but has since been switched to tight end, generating interest from Rutgers, Illinois, Penn State and UConn.

He transferred from Uprep Academy for Boys in Rochester, N.Y. to Trinity-Pawling(Pawling, N.Y.) prior to the 2014 school year, and has made strides, both athletically and in his attitude towards his future.

Both of these athletes made up for most of the offensive production and scoring for the NLB Bats Travel 7v7 team this past weekend at the Washington D.C. Pylon 7v7 Competition.

Ricky Norris will be a junior at Trinity-Pawling (Pawling, NY) in the fall, and has plans to study Psychology in college. The 6'2 250 TE/H-Back has great hands and helped lead the team to the championship game by pulling in 8 TD's.

CJ Turner (Class of 2017), currently attends Eastridge HS (Irondequoit, NY). At 5'8, 175lbs CJ has the ability to stop on the dime and quickly get into highest gear, leaving his opponents in the dust.

Turner is a former 8th Grade All-American, and has won multiple MVP awards at camps like Rivals, FBU, and others. Turner also had 8 TD's, his most impressive was a 40 yard TD sprint to to end zone. In 7v7 that is unheard of as it is two-hand touch football.

Beyond Athletics Scouting congratulates both of these distinguished young men and wishes them much success in the future.

Class of 2017 football prospect Ricky Norris Jr. is currently attending University Prep Charter School in Rochester, NY.  He projects as either a TE/DE at the next level.  Norris displayed very soft hands at the last 7v7 competition he played in held at Youngstown State University.  "Coach Carter approached me and asked if I was familiar with the H-Back / TE position."  "I told him yes he said I needed to work on my route-running, but overall was very impressed with my hands,  and that he will be watching me next football season," says Norris.  Standing almost 6'2, and close to 230lbs, Norris also excels in Baseball, Basketball,  Wrestling and Lacrosse.

Norris had a chance to visit the Trinity-Pawling campus earlier this month.  "TP would allow me the ability to improve my grades, maturity and responsibility off the field, while still allowing me to grow and learn on the field in any sport I want to play," says Norris.  With the NCAA Academic standards changing for potential prospects in the class of 2016, Prep Schools help provide the chance for many to earn the opportunity to play D1 football.  "I like the school I'm at now, however I think I need more, accountability and growth as a person, and being away from home will allow that for me," explains Norris.

"I've had the chance to meet coaches from Old Dominion, Syracuse, and also received interest from Illinois."  Last month coaches from Youngstown State and Rutgers came to my school."  "I just want to make sure I'm ready all the way around the table and I think TP gives me that opportunity," says Norris.  "My cousin Quentin Gause attends Rutgers, so right now they are my front-runner, but after next season I will look more seriously at what schools are my top schools.

"I really enjoyed my visit to Trinity-Pawling, Coach LaFontaine and the rest of the staff made me feel welcomed and said I could be a great addition to what their program is building over the next couple of years until I graduate."  "It's almost like going to college early, but its high school everyday and you live on campus."  "Not sure if its gonna happen yet, but i really like it a lot."  "I would miss home, but I could play football, basketball, and baseball for TP plus get academic support in a structured environment," explains Norris.

Whether he goes to Trinity-Pawling or stays at Uprep,  we will keep you informed on Ricky Norris as we follow him during the season.
