NLB BATS WASHINGTON DC PYLON 7V7DEFENSIVE TEAM MVP'S
June 6, 2015
Jazz Griffin - CB
NLB Bat's defensive coach Drew DeRoo selected these two young men as Defensive Team Co-MVP's. Congrats to both of them.
Both of these athletes attend UPREP Charter School For Young Men (Rochester, NY). They displayed poise, character, and leadership both on and off the field for the entire trip. Shoutout to their HS defensive coach Terrell Cunningham for teaching the fundamentals of the game.
At 6'3, 205lbs Wyatt's presence on the middle of the field was troublesome for opposing teams. The class of 2016 athlete showed mobility in both zone and man defensive schemes. Many times Wyatt was matched up with RB's out the back field and with his long arms was able to successfully defend against the play. Wyatt ended up with 2 Int's and about 4 tipped balls.
Jazz Griffin displayed physicality at CB from the moment he stepped on the field, many times taking the outside and over the top options away at the snap. At 5'8, 170lbs, Griffin was not intimidated at all.
Big or small he was very physical and mentally disruptive to some very good receivers. Griffin is in the class of 2017, and will be a kid to watch in the next few years.
